Under construction for 2019-2020
Thank-you to all parents who came out to Parent-Teacher Interviews!
Parent Teacher Interviews March 2019
Wednesday 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm (March 20th)
Tuesday 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm (March 21st)
I will have a sign in sheet just outside my office. My office is room 113 (by the classroom know as the
"fish bowl"). You simply sign up for your 10 minute interview on the day you have chosen to come for interviews.
It is on a first come first serve basis.
Confirmation Celebration: May 6 and May 7
May 6 - 7:00pm St. Joseph Parish, Holy Cross, Mother Teresa, St. Catherine
May 7 - 7:00pm, St. Gerard, St. Kateri, St. Clement
If you are really unable to attend May 7th, you can join the group on May 6th.
We requested the 7th since there is a high probability that the FLA written Part A is on May 7th. We wanted students to be able to focus on receiving the sacrament of Confirmation rather than worrying about a test the next day. This way the exam will be done and they can celebrate May 7th with family and friends. Also students may get to bed a little later that night as there is a reception for them in Tranquil Hall after the mass.
February 2019
Dear Parents,
We will soon be starting our preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation. The book we will be using is called ‘Alive in the Spirit’. If you would like to see this book, please send me a note in your child’s agenda. Otherwise the book will only be sent home after the sacrament of Confirmation.
Tuesday May 7th is the evening for the sacrament of Confirmation for students from École St Gerard. More detailed information will be sent closer to this date.
Confirmation parent information night ---March 11th at 7:00 pm at Tranquil Hall at St. Joseph's Church
Students who will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation will be presented at any of the 3 masses on March 16th and March 17st. (Saturday evening 7:00 pm, Sunday 9:00 am, Sunday 11:00 am)
All grade 6 students will be participating in a retreat at St Joseph’s Church on either April 3rd (6C) or April 16th (6A). More details will be shared closer to the date.
If your child was baptized please help him-her complete the questions that they will transcribe onto page 9. Your child is encouraged to ask 2 people that attended their Baptism (other than their parents) to share with them a special memory about their baptism. If your child was not baptized, they have a little name assignment to complete. They are asked to research the significance of their name and to find out how -why their name was picked. This can also include information about their middle name. Students who are baptized can choose to do this as well.
Due by or before March 12th.
Merci,
Nicole Ménard
Your child can complete the assignment on a lined loose leaf or in a Google Doc.

Please help our school Stuff a Bus!
Remind App - I hit a snag and something is not working for me at this time. Send me an email if you need to communicate with me.
Parent Teacher Interviews November 2018
Tuesday 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Wednesday 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm
I will have a sign in sheet just outside my office. My office is room 113 (by the classroom know as the
"fish bowl"). You simply sign up for your 10 minute interview on the day you have chosen to come for interviews.
It is on a first come first serve basis.
Though I have removed the special words from the website as part of the assignment, I still want your child to show you the website.
Once you have visited the website, drop me a line in the agenda indicating that you have seen the website.
I check the agenda of students in 6C every morning that I start the day with them.
If your child is in 6A, I do ask that they bring the agenda to class. I may not check their agenda, but if you need to communicate something with me, write it in the agenda. Make sure your child knows to show me the message.
Sending me an email works too, but I often do not look at my email until the afternoon. So if it is more urgent in nature, this may not be the most effective way to communicate.
Throughout the year new information added will be put in bold face.
The link for this website should be in the homeroom teacher's monthly communication. I have noticed that I have not had many "visitors" so I am going to make it a task for the students to visit the website and to show you.
There will be some key words to find in the tabs pertinent to the student in this website (I will make them obvious) and a parent signature required which your child will bring back to school. It can be on a piece of paper since we still do not have our agendas.
Maybe there is a treat for the students who complete this task over the next week.
I have joined the Remind App as well, but it will not be the primary way that I communicate information with parents and students - this website will be.
Celebration October 16th - Feast Day of St Gerard
Student are encouraged to wear school clothing or burgundy.
This celebration will be carried out by students in 6A and 6C.
It will be in the gym at 1:30 pm.
Students were asked if they wanted to help out with the celebration. Several students were prepared to help out.
Make sure to read the St Joseph's Catholic Church bulletin on their website to stay informed of event happening in our parish. Their website contains other information that you may find interesting. There is also a copy of the church bulletin on the bulletin board when you enter the school.
The school newsletter has important information and dates that are pertinent to your child in Grade 6.
Challenge Girl’s Groups (gr. 5 - 6, 7 - 8 & 9 - 12) Next gathering: Monday, Sept. 24, 7- 8:30 pm, meet upstairs. Questions? Call Anna 780-831-8338.

Sacramental Registration - your child received an invitation to bring home the week of September 17th. Darlene Lemay and Allison Flowers came to speak to the students and gave them each an invitation with same information as provided below.
Monday, September 24, 7 - 9 pm Thursday, September 27, 7 - 9 pm Saturday, September 29, 10 am - 12 noon All sessions are in Tranquille Hall Parents only need to attend ONE session. In our diocese children baptized in the Roman Catholic Church celebrate Reconciliation in grade 2, Eucharist in grade 3 and Confirmation in grade 6. All children receiving sacraments in the 2018 - 2019 school year, whether they attend a Catholic school or otherwise, must be registered at a forum. Plan to be there for the full 2 hours. Bring a copy of your child’s Baptismal certificate.
As I receive more specific information for dates and times for the Confirmation mass, I will post it here. May 6th or 7th
Homework room: Your child may be sent to complete late assignments. In this case your child must attend the homework room. It is available to grade 6 students every lunch recess in the library even if they are not sent by a teacher. Simple rules: You must communicate in French and you must be there to get work done. It can be to complete homework, but students can also go to study or read silently.
